Terms of use
Last updated: November 2026. These terms apply when you use ScamSteps (scamsteps.com). By using the site you accept them. If you do not accept them, please do not use the site.
Who we are
ScamSteps is run by Armidale Pte. Ltd., a company in Singapore. You can write to us at [email protected].
What ScamSteps is
ScamSteps is a free website for people who have just been scammed. It tells you, in plain words, what to do now and whom to contact in your country. If you ask, it emails you your checklist and checks in on you after 2 days and after 7 days.
It is free. There is no sign-up. We will never call you. We will never ask you for money, passwords or codes.
What ScamSteps is not
- ScamSteps is not legal or financial advice. It is general information about steps that often help.
- We are not the police. Telling us about a scam is not a police report. Please report it to the police yourself.
- We are not your bank. We cannot stop, freeze or reverse a payment. Only your bank or payment service can.
- We cannot get your money back, and we never promise that anyone will.
- If you are in danger now, call the emergency number in your country. In Singapore, call 999 for the police.
Beware of recovery scams
Anyone who offers to get your money back for a fee is a scammer. That includes people who say they work with us. We never charge anything and we never contact you first, except for the emails you ask for.
The contacts we list
We list phone numbers and websites only after checking them against the organisation's own official page, and we keep a copy of that page. Organisations change their numbers, so we cannot promise every detail is correct at every moment. If a number does not work, please tell us with the "This number did not work" button and use the organisation's official website.
The order of the banks and other services we list never depends on sponsorship. A sponsor cannot change what you see.
Using the site fairly
Please do not:
- send false answers on purpose, or use robots or scripts to send answers
- try to break, overload or get around the site's protections
- use the site to send emails to anyone but yourself
- copy the site to pass it off as your own, or to pretend to be us
We may block use that breaks these rules.
Other websites
We link to official websites, such as your bank, the police and support services. We do not run them and are not responsible for them.
Our responsibility
We work hard to make the help correct and up to date. We provide it free and as it is. We are not responsible for what a scammer, a bank, a platform or another organisation does. We are not responsible for loss caused only by an organisation changing a number after we checked it, as long as we correct it once we know. Nothing in these terms limits our responsibility for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else the law does not allow us to limit, or any right you have by law as a consumer.
Your information
Our privacy notice explains what we keep about you and why. You can read it on the Privacy page of this site.
The words and design
The words, design and checklists on ScamSteps belong to Armidale Pte. Ltd. You are welcome to share links to the site and to print or share your own checklist.
Changes
We may change these terms. The new version will be on this page with a new date.
The law that applies
These terms are governed by the law of Singapore, and the courts of Singapore may hear any dispute. If you use the site as a consumer in another country, you also keep any rights the consumer law of that country gives you.
